Paris - France

Building construction
Subsidiary
NGE BÂTIMENT

NGE BÂTIMENT, the building construction subsidiary of NGE, has responsibility for the construction of the Institut Mines Télécom (IMT) on the Paris-Saclay campus, with the assistance of the Group’s foundation and earthworks expertise. The company is the contractor for the ‘Earthworks, urban infrastructures, structural works external walls and weatherproofing’ work package. One important aspect to note is that the IMT took the decision that this project should be conducted in accordance with High Quality Environmental standards with the aim of achieving HQE® certification. As a result, this worksite is governed by a low environmental impact site charter setting out stringent requirements for the treatment and recovery of waste materials, controlled noise emission and water consumption levels, biodiversity conservation measures and the provision of information for local residents.

Challenges

ChalleNGE : the building is entirely clad with process-coloured concrete external panels applied over a base layer of reinforced concrete. These 3,500 prefabricated cladding panels are hung on the outside of the building, often asymmetrically and with extreme care paid to their assembly and installation. All have been applied accurately to the nearest millimetre to faithfully recreate the alternating design of concrete and glass.
