NGE, lead of two major works packages for RATP,celebrates the inauguration of the line.
The Minister of Transport, Patrice Vergriete, accompanied by Jean Castex, CEO of the RATP Group, inaugurated the eastern extension of Paris Metro Line 11 on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in the presence of representatives from NGE. This 6 km extension connects Mairie des Lilas to Rosny – Bois-Perrier, East of Paris.
The NGE Group was the lead contractor for two major package: civil engineering, which involved the construction of four new metro stations (La Dhuys, Montreuil-Hôpital, Place Carnot, and Serge Gainsbourg), three ancillary structures, the excavation of 3.8 km by a tunnel boring machine, and platforms excavated using traditional methods, as well as railway systems, covering the entire line. This extension will benefit 85,000 daily passengers and will enable to shorten travelling distances to the centre of Paris.
The inauguration of the extension of Metro Line 11 to the east of Paris took place on Thursday, June 13, in the presence of Patrice Vergriete, Minister of Transport, Valérie Pécresse, President of the Île-de-France region, Adina Valean, European Commissioner for Transport, Stéphane Troussel, President of the Seine-Saint-Denis department, Jean-François Monteils, Chairman of the Board of the Société des Grands Projets, Jean Castex, CEO of the RATP Group, as well as the mayors of the six municipalities traversed.
The first inaugural train ran along the entire new line. The eastern extension project of Paris Metro Line 11 from Mairie des Lilas to Rosny – Bois-Perrier allows residents of the six municipalities—Lilas, Bagnolet, Montreuil, Romainville, Noisy-le-Sec, and Rosny-sous-Bois—to access a new mode of sustainable, reliable, and responsible transport. For this project led by the RATP Group, NGE was the lead contractor for two major packages of the project.
